Search Internal Web Pages and Employee Information
Search the internal web pages for the intranet. Results are returned with google-like syntax (a brief summary of the text with a link provided to the page).
Search for employee information such as their email address and phone number. Supports searches on just part of portions of a person's name if you are unsure. You can also search just specific departments for an employee or service.
Live Weather Forecaster
Displays current weather and forecast for the next 2 days on the main intranet page. It gives employees an incentive to check the intranet every day. Pulls the information from NOAA's website (noaa.gov). Customizeable to different cities.
Content Management System
Post news stories to different sections of the intranet. Select an icon that represents the news story from a list of premade icons. Delete or Edit Past news stories.
Skinnable Look
You are able to easily modify many aspects of the intranet, including the 3 primarily used colors in that section of the intranet. I would change the colors to appropriately match the top header background image which is itself easily replaceable. Every subsection has it's own color scheme and header image (with 3 different subsections in all: employees, residents, visitors).
Print "Printer Friendly" versions of any page
Everyone wants to save ink and paper, the printer button pops up a version of the page with all the extraneous header images and navigation removed for a cleaner and quicker printing page. (This button works for any page and uses a processing script that automatically removes the extra content so you do not have to create two versions of the page.)
Calendar of Events
Find out what is happening that day with a quick glance. The events of that day our summarized in a nice format, and you can browse the calendar to see events that our coming up this week or months in advance. The events are entered in through a web calendar interface with different users created for different types of activities around the Home. This calendar system was built upon the popular open source project WebCalendar.
